    Sanshinkan International Students Win Medals At USA Open Karate Championship In Nevada

    April 30: Gurgaon-based martial arts club, Sanshinkan International’s students recently bagged various medals at the USA Open Karate Championship. They won the awards at the USA Open & Junior International Cup held at the Paris Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA. The event commenced on 13 April 2022 and ended on 17th April 2022.

    The Indian team received 7 gold medals, 1 silver medal, and 5 bronze medals in this championship. The coach of the Indian Karate Team and head of Sanshinkan International won 1 bronze medal in Team Kata. Some of the team members who won at the event are school-going students, income tax officers, engineering managers, and completing their post-grad in Management.

    Aniket Gupta and Deepika Dhiman, who works as an income tax officer in daily life, participated in the event. While Aniket bagged 1 gold medal in Mix Team Kata and 1 bronze medal in Team Kata, Deepika bagged 1 gold medal in Mix Team Kata and 1 bronze medal in Kumite.

    School-going students from Gurgaon, Dhruvansh Sethi, Ayam Malakar, and Dhairya Vij also bagged medals at the event held in Nevada, USA. The 7 years old Dhruvansh from Suncity School won 1 bronze medal in Kumite. The 8 years old Ayam from Scottish High International School won 1 gold medal in Kumite. And, the 12 years old Dhairya from Shikshantar School bagged 1 gold medal in Kumite.

    The para-athlete and Noida-based Symbiosis center for Management studies student, Kartikeya Goel bagged 2 gold medals and 1 silver medal in the international championship. He bagged 1 gold medal in Kata, 1 gold medal in Kumite, and 1 silver medal in Weapon Kata. The engineering manager of Zomato in Gurgaon, Apoorva Arora also bagged 1 gold medal in Kata and 1 bronze medal in Kumite.

    The Indian Karate Team also participated in the 2022 USA Open & Junior International Cup. Although the Cup was getting postponed again and again since the onset of the coronavirus pandemic in the past two years, the Indian Karate Team did not lose hope. They kept practicing, prepping, and waiting patiently for the event to finally occur until April 2022. With the team led by the acclaimed Coach & Sensei, Yashpal Singh Kalsi.

    Coach & Sensei, Yashpal Singh Kalsi is a recognized karate personality. The well-known martial artist himself has won 1 gold medal in the 2016 USA Open and 2 bronze medals in the 2017 USA Open. The Delhi-based martial artist is a karate black belt. He received his first karate black belt back in 1996. From state medals to national medals and even international karate championships, Yashpal Singh Kalsi is a force to reckon with.

    The WFK certified Karate trainer, Mixed Martial Arts trainer, and qualified Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu has been the chief trainer of the Swedish martial arts school in Gurgaon, Sanshinkan International. The martial arts training institute was founded in 1969 in Stockholm, Sweden while the Indian branch was only recently launched in 2006.

    Sanshinkan International institute in India is headed by Yashpal Singh Kalsi and Anamika Singh Kalsi along with a team of 50+ professional coaches and experts. The ISO-certified institute works with numerous self-defense NGOs and local government authorities. The institute has trained over 29 World Cup players and 20 MMA professional fighters. It has also helped thousands of students achieve their fitness, self-defense, professional training, and martial art sports goals amongst others. Students can register through their online application or by calling the institute.

    The year 2022 is marked as the 18th year of the USA Open & Junior International Cup. The 2022 USA Open Championships once again set the mark of being one of the premier karate as well as para karate event in the world. Giving the talented karate champions from all across the globe a platform to showcase their talent after a long break, all thanks to the pandemic.

    The event also held the 2022 Junior International Cup inviting divisions of athletes with a host of skills that are below 18 years of age. Both, domestic as well as international athletes participated in the event.

    The event was hosted at the world-famous Paris-Las Vegas Hotel and Casino. This Las Vegas resort provided world-class facilities such as dining, gaming, and shopping accompanied by an exceptional experience. This hotel certainly made the ideal venue for the 2022 USA Open & Junior International Cup.
